About ORMP

The Office of Resource Management and Planning (ORMP) provides on-going advice and strategic recommendations to campus executive management regarding the most effective allocation and use of campus resources to meet UC Davis's goals and objectives.

Headed by Vice Chancellor John Meyer, ORMP serves a vital role in the financial and academic operations of the UC Davis campus. ORMP is a multi-faceted office, housing a wide variety of professionals who hold equally diverse sets of responsibilities each of which is introduced below.

Divisions

Arboretum

The mission of the UC Davis Arboretum is to serve the campus and regional community as a living museum connecting people with the beauty and value of plants. The Arboretum is a refuge where visitors can step away from their busy lives and reconnect with nature. Its 100 acres of gardens are open 24 hours a day, every day of the year, and there is no charge for admission. Arboretum staff and volunteers promote sustainable gardening practices and environmentally-friendly garden plants, build and maintain important plant collections of over 22,000 specimens, teach children to love the natural world, and develop new leaders in the environmental sciences.



Architects & Engineers

Professionally manage the design and construction of new or remodeled major campus facilities that support and enhance the university's mission of education, research and public service.

Establish and protect the principles of distinguished architecture and engineering by advocating excellence in design, adherence to institutional standards, respect for the environment, energy consciousness, and thorough planning.

Maximize functionality, aesthetics, efficiency, and flexibility for the benefit of current and future generations of university students, faculty, and staff.



Budget & Institutional Analysis

Advises the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor and other campus leaders as to the efficient and effective management of the campus' operating budget resources. Provides analytical support for decisions on faculty position allocation, curriculum planning, campus enrollment targets, and other academic planning issues.



Campus Planning

The goals of Campus Planning projects and activities are to: Develop and maintain the planning vision for the UC Davis campus; Create a physical framework to support the teaching, research and public services mission of the campus; Manage campus lands and resources in a spirit of stewardship for the future; Provide an environment to enrich campus life and serve the greater community; Assure campus plans maintain flexibility to respond to the needs of a dynamic campus.



Capital Resource Management

The Capital Resource Management division is responsible for the management of physical and capital planning issues on the UC Davis Campus. The Real Estate Services section provides a broad range of support to campus development projects, University properties, and faculty and staff housing.



Environmental Stewardship & Sustainability

Environmental & Sustainability participates in the planning and design of UC Davis development projects, reviews the environmental impacts of these projects, develops mitigation measures for potential impacts, and oversees an on-going mitigation monitoring program. The team also participates in community and regional resource issues as they relate to the campus, and it maintains a campus geographic information system (GIS).



Facilities Management



Vice Chancellor

The Vice Chancellor’s Office provides policy-level administrative leadership in the Office of Resource Management and Planning. Staff provide support for the management of budget and financial operations, personnel administration, facilities and space administration, technology and general administration of all units that report to the Vice Chancellor.
